Our 9/24/17 cruise on Oasis of the Seas started out a little disappointing since our itinerary was changed from Eastern to Western Caribbean due to the damage to many of the Eastern Caribbean ports.

Food - The food in the main dining room was OK but not great. Our server seemed a little inexperienced, but I think the itinerary change caused confusion among many of the staff. He tried very hard and got better as the cruise progressed. I spoke with one of the cruise director's staff and they said their schedule was confused due to the itinerary change. We ate at 2 specialty restaurants, Chops Grille and Giovanni's Table. Chops was a little disappointing, We both had filet mignon and it was good, but not great. The bread was tasteless. My dessert, key lime pie, was just barely OK. My husband had a Chocolate cake with raspberry coulis and it was very good. He wanted to lick the plate (he didn't). Our server had to be asked to refill our empty water glasses. On the flip side, Giovanni's Table was wonderful. Again I had a filet mignon and it was terrific, cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The past sides were very good. (served family style) For dessert we had tiramisu and vanilla gelato. Both were excellent. Our server was as good as it gets. We also ate at Johnny Rockets. Food was as you would expect, but the it was a long time in coming.(not just us, everyone) Our waitress was excellent and kept us informed that the food was coming and offering to replenish drinks and fries/onion rings. American Icon, on deck 3 was our choice one day for lunch. The food was good and they actually had spinach for your salad, which was somewhat scarce everywhere else. They had a buffet as well. The entrees were hit or miss, but the dessert choice/flavor was excellent. IMO the food was much better than the main dining room. While on the subject of food, if you choose this cruise, be sure to try the pound cake at Cafe Promenade. It's yummy. They also have a good selection of sandwiches at lunch/dinner, including shrimp rolls. For healthier eating Solarium Bistro is not to be missed. (we tried for breakfast and lunch, but didn't care for their dinner selections) The buffet was only OK. Frequently the food was not hot, the selection minimal and flavors were hit or miss. The Coke soda machines were not kept stocked and by afternoon many selections were out. The ice in the machines just couldn't keep up with the demand. There are 2 machines at each end of the Buffet and also 2 next to Sorrento's. These are one of the only outlets for ice as well as Solarium Bistro and Wipeout Cafe.

Entertainment - The production number, Cats, is not to be missed if you enjoy musicals. IMO the vocalists and dancers were the best I've seen on a cruise ship. (We've done all Celebrity's Solstice Class ships, Royal Caribbean's Allure (Mama Mia), and Regal Princess) Some don't enjoy the play's story, but we really liked it. Having seen the Cats Broadway Tour in Washington DC, we were familiar with the story and music. Just be prepared if you sit on the aisle to have some personal contact with the performers as they interact with the audience in "cat style". The comedians were OK. The Come Fly With Me show was really good, and the acrobats and vocalists very good. We missed the Aqua Show, Oasis of Dreams. Our show was cancelled and the new time we were given on the last night didn't work with our dinner reservation. All in all, we really enjoyed the entertainment onboard.
