Royal Caribbean Cruise Line

Explorer of the Seas by Dick Stein Bermuda

October 24-29, 2009

This was our 14th RCCL Cruise, our third with this line in 3 years, we have done 22 cruises with Princess, 8 cruises with HAL and 13 cruises with Celebrity. We booked a E2 balcony on the bump. We drove to the Hyatt Summerfield Suites Morristown on Friday. Had a nice breakfast at the motel and drove to the port the next morning arriving at 11:30 AM. Parking was $95. Check in went quickly and the buses for Diamonds came soon after check in. Could not go to cabin till 1 PM, so we had lunch at the Lido.

Cabins: The cabin 7622 (cat. E2) bump balcony that was attractively decorated and good sized for the price. The balcony was nice with two plastic chairs. The shower is similar to what we get on Celebrity with a hose and wand arrangement. Cabin service was efficient and unobtrusive. My wife enjoyed the bath robes. The bed was firm and my wife liked the room and the short walk to elevator.

Public Areas: As a Diamond member we had Diamond event in the 19th Hole each night and enjoyed white wine and trail mix for an hour before dinner nightly. Attended the repeater party for Platinum's and above and they had hot snacks like we use to have nightly. The shows were fine. Enjoyed the two free wine coupons during say with my Diamond coupon in the bar and got some bargains the last night in a sale in the shops.

Dining: We had a nice table for 2 on deck 4, table 417 and enjoyed our service there. We had pizza, cookies and hot dogs several times for a snacks. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the food varied from excellent to good, and we had breakfast and dinner there daily and some lunches The food in the Windjammer was good for lunch in port.

Tours: We had visited Bermuda on 4 previous trips and did no tours. Did some shopping at the Dockyard and Hamilton.

Disembarkation: Left ship on express walk off at 7:45 AM for our car and was on the highway heading home at 8 AM. Got home at 4:00 PM and had with Dinner at Denny's.

Overall, I was satisfied and will consider RCCL in the future if the price is right and they do not take any more benefits away from us Diamond's.
