We had been to this destination 10 years earlier and wanted to visit again. Our prior cruise was on the Crystal Symphony which had been extraordinary. From the website and the brochures we thought we would really like the Viking Ocean ships so we thought we'd try this cruise.
My overall impression was that everything was good to, in some cases, very good, but nothing was remarkable or truly special. The ship's design was quite beautiful, and we very much appreciated the lack of a casino in which we are not interested. The spa, available to all, was truly extraordinary but eventually became so popular it was difficult to get in.
One area of the ship to which I was particularly looking forward was the Wintergarden. Curiously, it was rarely used and was somehow cold and uninviting; that was disappointing.
Our stateroom was exceptional, as mentioned above. Very nicely designed, plenty of room, excellent location and complimentary laundry was a great perk. Our stateroom crew, too, were outstanding.
There were both really good and really mediocre aspects of this tour. I would have liked to have spent more time in the town of Molde. Most of the trip was just too long.
I'd been here before. This bus excursion to the Nordkapp was largely a waste of time and very poorly organized.
Very interesting excursion to the Italian Chapel with a WONDERFUL tour guide. The tour of the Highland Park Distillery was also very good.
