We were looking for a good deal on a last minute cruise. This came up and was recommended by the consultant on cruise Critic. The cruise started with a problem with the drink package. There were 3 promises it would be resolved starting at 4 pm Drinks resolved at 11:00pm. Dinner very good, lamb and pork with curry. Exceptional Cruise Critic meeting hosted by the ship and its entertainment director. Director of hotel operations listened to our package problems and got them resolved also changed some seating arrangements for dinner. Good poolside service as my wife wanted a frozen strawberry margarita and it was not one of the menu drinks. Assistant stepped up and helped get it. Generally, the staff tried hard, but the lack of understanding of English was a huge problem, especially in the dining room. The attempts by the director of hotel services to resolve issues were excellent, but "get it right the first time" should have been the motto, with better training of the staff. e.g. Staff did not know what a "taste" of a wine was, could not bring wine from another restaurant on the ship to the main one, did not understand english very well, usually had too many tables and could not keep water refilled, borrowed salt from one table for another, without replacing. Communications on when things will happen, formal nights, etc. could have been better as they asked you to make advanced reservations to special restaurants, but you did not know which night these special events were. Also, I tried all day to make a reservation for the steak house by phone as instructed. The phone was never answered, despite hours being posted. Finally had to do it in person. Rowena Sebastian, the person in charge of the steakhouse was exceptional in customer service, and food in the steakhouse was excellent. Overall the food in the main dining was OK but nothing special, you had to watch what you ordered. Turkey was pressed and was terrible. The ship was beautiful and very well maintained (except for the restrooms). The restrooms were hard to find, small, and the men's contained no urinals. Men sometimes have very poor aim and the smell had soaked into the tile floor. We meet several very awesome people which added to a great experience! Overall the staff tried hard and by the end of the cruise, I thought that I might give them another try.
