We live just 100 miles north of Seattle, left home at 8:15 am and were on the Explorer at 10:50. In 20 cruises never before has the embarkation process been so smooth. Explorer was the only ship in port so I'm sure that helped the ports part but compliments to the Explorer staff.
Entertainment on the ship was good. By far our favorite was the ice skating show "Seasons". It was performed three times and we watched it three times. Excellent!!! The ships singers/dancers did twp shows that were also very good. The other shows in the Palace Theater were just okay. Entertainment venues around the ship we felt were also just okay. I know RCCL is trying to attract a younger crowd, so maybe us older folk will just have to tolerate it.
The ports of Astoria, San Francisco, and Victoria were all ports we have been to many times so we took no tours. Just got off the ship and got some very needed exercise.
Had an guaranteed inside cabin at the very front of deck nine. Never before been that far forward but it turned out just fine. Water was flat the entire trip so that may have helped. Our cabin steward did a super job, even leaving us towel animals each night. The long walk to most anywhere from our room turned out to be a great way to get a little needed exercise.
Parked at the Armory, which was a 4 minute shuttle ride to the port. Excellent place to park. Port was very well organized.
Ship stayed docked overnight, giving us two days to do something. Over the years I think we have done all of the tours so we just walked around.
Victoria is a very unique city with many venues to see. Since we spend a lot of time there we just got some exercise.
