We chose this cruise because of the ports, and to see the new ship, Anthem of the Seas. The ports, Boston, Portland, Bar Harbor, St John NB and Halifax NS were all wonderful, despite the Fog we encountered. Especially Halifax, beautiful city with significant history, wonderful day.

Anthem is a beautiful ship from stem to stern and all decks, but IMHO too large and too many people for my DH and I. MDR too busy in MTD. We would have preferred early dining, but not available. The food was good, but definitely lacked seasoning!! How can you prepare bread pudding (Buffet) and not season with cinnamon and nutmeg, tasteless and dry, also needed more egg/cream mixture. Gave it 2 attempts, failed on both! Need to use recipe from Celebrity, theirs is always delicious. Also, HW and AW were either harried or just didn’t listen, got orders wrong, or “argued” if we changed beverage from Tea to Coffee, and frequently never brought Diet Coke our friend ordered, after several requests at each meal, poor service!!

When DH and I sailed RC last it was on Allure, and encountered some of the same events, where we thought it was just a hiccough, but perhaps it is not, unfortunately. For us, smaller ships, and probably only Celebrity, Aqua Class.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E1

Cabin was very nice, quite roomy, plenty of storage room. Really liked the split closets, very nice, and plenty of hangers. Finally got rid of “coffee table”, which was always in the way, and not used, made cabin seem larger. Our steward was great, Denys, and always cheerful.
