We enjoyed our past Viking river cruise, and wanted to see Iceland and Norway. Ship and cabin met our expectations for comfort and cleanliness. Service staff was friendly beyond belief. Excursions were fun and informative, and well coordinated to logistically move a lot of people in different directions around the same time. We had no idea that the scenery would be so fantastic. Because the ship stayed close to shore when possible, there was almost as much scenery as on a river cruise. Slowing the ship to explain waterfall and such was appreciated. Shuttles into town were great. NIghly entertainment great.
Two major complaints. One, on arriving in Iceland for precruise extension at 7 am, hotel rooms not available until afternoon. Sitting in the lobby not so fun, tho food was provided, necessary for my diabetic husband. Walking tour suggested, but after traveling for almost a day, it is too much to expect for senior citizens. Another tour company on another tour made sure rooms ready on arrival.
Two, transfer from Iceland to Bergen was two flights, taking us to Oslo. There was no Viking representative to indicate where to go, how to go thru customs again, reclaim and recheck bags. There was no signage to help. There were no written instructions to follow. Folks who didn't rely on Viking for air arrangements didn't have such problems.
Beds comfy, heated floors in bathroom great. Could use a few more drawers. Lighting fine.
