My husband and I choose the cruise to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We really wanted to see Canada and the Northeast Coast. The port locations were lovely. I especially enjoyed Portland, Maine and the tour to Kennebunkport. The beauty of that idyllic town is indescribable. We also enjoyed some fresh lobster! For us, having our home port in NYC was a definite bonus! We stayed in NYC for three nights upon disembarkation and had an incredible time.

The staff of the Gem were wonderful! The service was always on time without being intrusive. The only exception to that is the long wait for beverages in the bars. The ship should have self-serve soda stations. The price paid for the soda package should more than cover for that convenience. I hate Pepsi! If Norwegian is only going to offer Pepsi products, they need to re-institute the bring your own soda and water policy. The all Pepsi rule will keep me from sailing with Norwegian in the future.

The shows, trivia and other on-board activities were wonderful and much fun! TheNor cruise director and his staff were personable and seemed to truly enjoy their jobs.

Cabin IC

Our cabin was the least expensive available. It was an inside. aft cabin. Our steward prepared our twin beds to create an over-sized queen. The bed was comfortable. My only complaint about our cabin was the single electric outlet. It would have been helpful to have a plug located in the bathroom in addition to the one located in the dressing area.
