This was our third cruise on the Eclipse though the first time we have sailed fro Southampton. We travelled with two friends. The embarkation was easy, parked the car in the nearby carpark (ABP £120.00) where the luggage was taken from us to the ship. A very short wait after the check in formalities. We boarded at 11:30am, cabin was available at 1:00 pm and the last item of luggage was delivered by 3:30 pm.
Our cabin steward (IMADE) was excellent and supplied all our requirments. In the MDR we had a table for 10 (table 239), the waiter (JESUS) and his assistant(Felix) were excellent. Our Sommelier (YAN from China) was outstanding, advising us on the wine to go with our food choices and keeping our glasses topped us as required.
In general the cruise staff were very good with the exeption of the staff in the Cafe El Bacio who were indifferent at times. The coffee served in the EL Bacio was not very good being weak even if you got a double shot, we had found this on our previous cruise when the coffee supplier had been changed to Lavvaaso.
Though this was billed as a obstructed cabin the view from the veranda was fine. The obstruction was the top end of the Life boat davit which did not obstruct the view of the surroundings when at sea. When the ship was moored there was a limited direct view down the side of the ship due to the lifeboats. The cabin was the usual size on the Eclipse and the same as virtually all the other veranda cabins on the ship.
