This is the 5th cruise with Celebrity for my wife and me, but 1st on Summit. Overall I give the overall experience a thumbs up! The crew is 98% super friendly, helpful and outgoing. You will see many more officers out and about compared to the S-Class ships and they are almost all very friendly and never to busy to say hi or have a short conversation in an elevator. For some reason, service is always very cold at the Martini Bar and that holds true on Summit, also there aren't many waiters taking drink orders in the Oceanview Cafe. But generally you'll get great service everywhere else. The crew seems a bit younger and maybe not as experienced as on the S-Class ships but in someways this is good because they (almost) seem friendlier and more outgoing / less serious. You will still get the excellent Celebrity service you expect but this seems a bit less formal (not that the other ships are stiff or anything) for lack of a better word.

The port at Bayonne is much different than Miami or Ft Lauderdale! There is only 1- cruise terminal so you literally fly through embarkation. THe process was smooth and fast and we were on the ship in no time! Same holds true for disembarkation, we got off the ship, easily found our luggage, got in line and were through customs all in maybe 30-40 minutes (estimated). I can't speak about parking since we flew into NJ.

The Cabins are roomy, clean and have plenty of storage. They suffer the typical cruise ship failure of not having nearly enough electrical outlets, but a power strip (not surge protector) solves that issue. The cabins do show a tiny bit of wear around "the edges", but they are nice overall with no real complaints. Our steward wasn't great compared to those we've had on other ships, but he did keep the cabin clean and even made us 2- towel animals. There was some trash left in the cabin from the previous travelers and he tended to be in cleaning as late as 10:00pm.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Cabin A1

We were in Aqua Class in cabin 9088. The cabin has the typical Celebrity look / decorations as you'd expect, however with the ship getting older the cabins are starting to show a little wear around the edges. Most people will not notice any issues, but people like me who look at little details (corners, caulking, paint, grout, etc) will notice some age. I haven't compared actual size vs the S-Class ships but the cabins on Summit seem to be a tiny bit bigger, though the verandas do seem smaller.

The amenities are similar to the S-Class ships. The storage seems to be a bit more here too. We did miss the over the bed cabinet but found it wasn't really needed when we discovered all of the storage available throughout the cabin. I know every cabin steward is an individual but based on our experience you do not get the same quality of service you do on the S-Class ships. Our steward was always in at "late" times, sometimes even cleaning at 9-10:00pm. We did find some trash when we first got to our cabin (tissue paper, socks wrapper, a t-shirt and a new package of socks) which was a first, but this isn't really that big of a deal. The afternoon canapes seem to be a strange assortment of things like liverwurst mousse, potato chips, nuts, pineapple salsa, etc.

I know alot of this sounds like complaining but really I was satisfied with our cabin and dont have any major complaints. It was clean and spacious and was all you need, dont hesitate to book Aqua Class on Summit.

Port Reviews

King's Wharf

We did our own activities while in Bermuda. We did however do a 4- hour boat rental from KS Watersport (Excellent) and the Twilight cruise with Fantasea Cruises (Very good). The port has a lot to see/do, transportation is easy. Overall the island has a lot of character and the areas vary widely in scenery and activities. The island in general is on the expensive side (food, transportation, lodging, etc) but there are still some good deals to be had for alcohol and shopping. We will definitely come back to Bermuda.
