We choose this cruise as the embarkation from Dundee was ideally situated. Being new to cruising we thought this cruise to the Norwegian fjords would be a good starter cruise. The cruise itself was okay, apart from the choppy water in the north sea! The food onboard was excellent we ate in the Waldorf restaurant most of the time, 5 course options for Lunch and Dinner. Great selection on offer, we had the early sitting for Dinner and we did feel hurried between courses at times. Waiters were keen to get you out of restaurant so they could prepare for the next guests eating at the late sitting. we ate in the Raffles bistro a few times which was a self service buffet, again there was a good choice on offer. The entertainment on the ship was dire! Considering they have a captive audience we were expecting a much better choice. The "resident duo" in the Captains Lounge were awful, the singer could not sing. The cabaret type entertainment in the show lounge was not much better, with the exception of the guest comedian, he was funny. It was like watching a variety show from the 1980's very dated. We did a few of the organised excursions, a trip to the scenic waterfall in Voringfossen was a bit disappointing, it was very misty so we couldn't get a great view. The trip was meant to include a tea/coffee/cake break, this turned out to be a lukewarm cup of tea or coffee. No cake not even a biscuit. Quite poor considering the cost of the trip. A trip the following day to the Flam railway was super, great views on the train, would recommend this definitely. We decided to do our trip to Bergen, which was easy to do, plenty to see and do there. We chose the Floibanen Funicular railway to Mt Floyen, fantastic views of Bergen at the top. Our last excursion was to Durham Cathedral, this was excellent, the guide on the bus was very good, made the trip very interesting. We spent some time in Durham after, lovely place to visit, very quaint. All in all, Norway was a fantastic destination, so pleased to have seen all the sights there. Not sure if we would do another cruise though, enjoyed the food on this one, but not so keen on the sailing part.

Cabin Review

Cabin 4063
Our cabin was a reasonable size, plenty of storage space for clothes, and the beds were comfy. There was very little soundproofing between the cabins, we could hear the couple in the next cabin speaking and even snoring! The bathroom/shower room was small and there was usually a horrible sewer like smell emanating from the drains. On a few occasions we even had water coming up from the drain in the shower, which we did report to reception.
