Our third cruise on Viking Star. We booked this cruise for several reasons: 1. This cruise fell on top of our 50th Wedding Anniversary. 2. We really enjoy the Viking Star and crew. 3. Ports of Call provided the opportunity to visit many different countries for the first time. 4. Strong desire to tour St. Petersburg. The ship is impressive, with its layout, beauty, comfort and unique features such as the spa with the ice grotto, hi-tech applications to the theatre shows and "high tea". The crew from top to bottom work very hard to make you feel welcome and they try to make your cruise most enjoyable. The food at all dining locations is excellent. Viking even surprised us with a special cake in celebration of our anniversary. The selection of excursions gave us the opportunity to see the local port city and to expand outwards to other small towns and points of interest. The Ultimate 2 Day St. Petersburg excursion was so well planned and guided that it became our favorite excursion of all our Viking excursions. On a scale of 1 to 10 this cruise was a 10!

Cabin Review

Cabin penthouse veranda 6078

Well designed and 5 Star quality. Bathroom and shower were superior to many European hotels. The flat screen TV with the programing provided us the opportunity to see the Port Talks at our leisure.

Ulriken Cable Car

Provided a good overview of Bergen from the coach tour to Mt. Ulriken and from the top of the cable car ride.

Flam railway excursion provided a very scenic tour of this area of Norway. Tunnels, waterfalls, fjords, lakes and towns.

Provided a wider and slighly different view of Norway. Enjoyed Baker's Paradise.

Aalborg walking tour covered the highlights of the old city and provided more than ample time to enjoy the area.

City Tour

Perhaps the rain dampened the coach tour a bit. The points of interest were fine but the route in and around the city made it difficult to maintain a sense of where you were. Also took the Canal Boat Jazz ride and it was very good.

Rostock Walking Tour

This was the worst tour of any trip. The guide walked us over lawns, and back alleys to view the backs of the city wall and old buildings. We stared at the unviversity building and church building. Very little time was provided to walk around and look at the old town. The guide failed to make our visit worthwhile even to the point where she didn't pass out the evaluation forms.

Gdansk Old Town

Our trip included the amber museum. We found Gdansk to be a wonderful old city experience.

This tour gave us an opportunity to walk the upper town to get a sense and feel of the town and then a coach ride to see some of the country side and the manor house. The tour included a very nice local lunch. A very nice excursion.

The best organized and guided tour. This tour enable us to enjoy almost all of the major places of interest included the ballet. The hydrofoil return from Peterhof Palace to the ship was a nice finish to the two day experience.

The tour also included a coach tour of the city and a visit to the Rock Church. The Helsinki Ice Bar with the dog sled ride was simply a fun experience for our "inner child".

Enjoyed a nice guided coach tour of Stockholm on the way to Sigtuna. Sigtuna was a quaint charming village where we had a wonderful dinner and ample time to walk around and enjoy the village. We then visited Skokloster Castle with its own guide in period dress. The guide made this one of the most interesting castle/palace tours that we have taken. It was excellant.
