We were three couples in our late 60s traveling together--we picked this cruise because of the Scandinavian ports (especially the Norweigian fjords) plus St Petersburg on the itinerary. The new dedicated train to Berlin was a great new feature--gave us much longer in Berlin to see this amazing world capitol.
Highlights;
1. Staff on the ship was incredible--everybody went out of their way to be friendly and helpful in all ways.
Cabins were very nice--we were an room 3045, a deluxe veranda. Great king sized bed. Heated bathroom floor. Nice vanity and makeup mirror built into desk in living area. Very nice outside balcony with chairs--unfortunately cool weather on our cruise did not allow us to take advantage of this great feature. Location of 3045 mid ship was perfect--close to everything.
Flam train ride to Myrdal and Biking back to Flam on bike rented from Cafe Ralleran. One of the highlights of our trip. Gorgeous scenery. We rented a car in Eidfjord at XY Petrol and did the two hour drive each way to Flam which was incredibly beautiful. Then the absolutely amazing train ride and challenging 15 mile bike ride back to Flam. Walk the bike for most of first mile and the bike ride is great.
This is a relatively big city (250,000 people). Old port is very touristry. Tram ride to top of mountain and walk down was excellent. Great with the world championship bike ride going on added to the ambience. Bergen has worst weather in Norway but we were lucky and caught a sunny day.
