We sailed off on Allure 9/3 with the expectation that Irma was going to disrupt the end of our voyage as she bore down on South Florida. In fact, for our safety the cruise was extended 3 additional days. I want to give props to Royal Caribbean because there were a few passengers greatly inconvenienced by being forced to stay 3 additional days for free on Royal's dime or alternatively, take a flight home from Jamaica(Thurs), or Cozumel(Mon). These few folks slammed the cruiseline for the "mistreatment". Trust me, the large majority of the passengers were greatly appreciative of how well we were taken care of. For instance, new entertainment boarded the ship for those additional 3 days - and I mean they were good! Two comedians and a great musical show! Are you kidding me? They didn't have to do that. Drinks and laundry service were half price from day 7 to 10! Food continued to be terrific! Surf and turf in the dining room on day 9! I just can't say enough about this cruiseline. This was our 31st cruise so we have experienced it all. I don't think we'll ever cruise with anyone else again!

By the way, we were docked with Norwegian Escape passengers in Cozumel on day 8. Boy, did they tell a different story! Furious passengers! They were charged for the additional days! Sat in a port for 2.5 days! What fun. Casinos and shops closed on the ship the whole time, etc, To a person they said, never again on Norwegian. Yikes!

Final thought. The 'aggrieved' passengers who were not able to get home on the day scheduled need to remember. They paid considerably less for their cruise precisely because it was during hurricane season, when schedules can change in the interest of safety. Secondly, may they shouldn't cruise from August through October. Pay more and forget about storms. Cruise in Feb-March when cruises are most expensive and the seas are typically the roughest because of the windy time of year. We add nothing but flat seas for the entire 10 days, as is typical of summer in the Carib.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D5

The only disappointment of the entire cruise, our cabin steward just wasn't into it. He seemed miserable. Not mentioning his name because it likely could have been a family issue at home that he was temporarily struggling with. These hardworking people are in constant contact these days with home in most cases and that mostly good, but...Anyway, enough said.
