We were anxious to try one of the new Viking ocean ships, and were thrilled that a cruise was offered to Athens and several other ports, plus Montenegro, Croatia and Slovenia, ending in Venice. It was a fabulous itinerary, and to be on the new Viking Star with its sleek, clean Scandinavian styling, beautiful public areas, lovely cabins and amenities were all we expected from the world's #1 cruise line.

We found service to be professional and courteous at all times, and as usual, we were grateful to the room stewards for their service. We were glad to find so many quiet corners to read or talk to friends.

The food was quite good, and portions moderate, but in reality, we do not cruise to see how much we can eat, and I respect that Viking does not like to waste food. Two of the specialty restaurants were without a surcharge, and we enjoyed them tremendously. One passenger complained that he could only make one reservation in each of these before the cruise, but in fairness, EVERYONE wants to try those two dining experiences, and one couple should not be allowed to make 14 reservations before boarding. There is the option to make more reservations once on board.
