The Carnival Sunshine is an older Carnival Ship. Although it has been renovated, it is no Carnival Breeze. The ship had fewer open spaces and when weather was poor, the Lido Deck became over crowded. Forget about a relaxing breakfast, have it in your room. One highlight, The Havana Bar was a lovely space to relax and enjoy live Latin music.
Due to its age the Ship tends to be a bit claustrophobic, even the open atrium did not feel all that spacious. Going from point A to point B was a challenge. At times I felt like a mouse in a maze.
If you have dinner "Your time", beware. You first must go as a group to the fifth floor, stand on line to get a ticket, you then proceed to an assigned dining room on another floor (which was three) But when you get to that third floor you are told to go back up to four, walk back to the next elevator and down to three. As a disabled person, this was not fun.
This cabin is perfect for a couple. However three adults was a terrible experience. The couch that becomes a bed was 60 inches long. My knees were on the edge of the couch, your feet end up on the pillow of someone in the bed. The steward informed us that that bed is for a child not an adult. When we complained at the desk we were told that we should have questioned the size of the bed when booking. Really Carnival? Finally they offered to move me with two days left in the cruise to an inside cabin on a another part of the ship. Would it kill Carnival to block these rooms so you don't pay for a balcony experience (a fantastic balcony it was) and not have a bed! Shame Carnival.
Lovely port, and the historic district is right where you dock.
