Having done three Viking River cruises previously, we wanted to try a Viking Ocean cruise and felt confident it would be good based on previous Viking experiences. We were not disappointed. The new Viking Ocean ships are big enough to be comfortable and offer many amenities but small enough to be generally uncrowded and it seemed always possible to find a quiet place to sit and relax. read, etc., if that was your preference at the moment. The Viking cruise experience is not really aimed at families with children or real "party-goers." There is no casino (yeah!) The food in the Restaurant and the specialty dining facilities (Manfredi''s and The Chef's Table) was excellent and included beer, wine and soft drinks at lunch and dinner makes for pleasant relaxed mealtimes. Service was excellent throughout the ship and the cruise. The Viking transfer services in Barcelona and Rome were efficient and friendly and made embarkation and disembarkation relatively painless. Shore excursions, both the included ones and optional choices, were very good with excellent guides and efficiently operated. We're just trying to choose when and where our next Viking Ocean cruise will be on the Viking Sea or one of her sister ships.
