Our Viking River trips have always been wonderful, but we are not "big" ship people - 200 people was plenty, so we were a little sceptical about 900 people. The Viking Ocean ships are so well designed that you NEVER feel like there are very many people on the ship with you. The staff, dining and cabins are wonderful, but the open spaces and additional amenities are marvelous. There is beautiful viking art work throughout and even a display of viking artifacts. There are no pressures to "buy or bid" - no nickle and dime for this or that. There are three washer and dryers sets on each cabin floor that are FREE - they even provide the soap. One lady that was doing laundry when I was said on the other ships, you had to buy their tokens and bring or buy your soap. I know this sounds minor, but it is just an example of the little niceties that are included. Having an included excursion at each port is another example. There are also optional excursions, if the included is not of interest. I heard that a couple wanted to visit a town near one of the ports we were in as their relatives were from there. The concierge arranged for a car and driver so they could visit a place of their heritage.
