We had sailed above the arctic circle with Viking in 2016 and loved the ship and the experience so much that we booked the Viking Homelands cruise. The itinerary was perfect as, at a leisurely pace, we were able to visit 8 lovely countries over a 14-day ocean cruise. We had sailed with Viking on numerous river cruises throughout Europe and enjoyed them immensely. Viking translated the luxury and the rich experience of the river cruises to their ocean cruises. We started out in Stockholm and ended up in Bergen, Norway and sailed on the Viking Sea. The cabin accommodations were ideal: each cabin has a veranda view and is comfortable with plenty ot storage and a delightful bonus is room service is included 24/7. The restaurants - all included - were superb and we found the World Cafe perfect for lunch as well as dinner when we wanted a more casual approach to meals. We had breakfast in our room every day. The shore excursions - one is included at every port - are very well organized and the guides were excellent. The pace of the excursions was also excellent as you could choose a moderate or more leisurely trip on shore. The entertainment was very, well, entertaining and never overly crowded so we could always get a good seat. The enrichment programs are something unique to Viking and have the bonus that you can view the programs in your room if you prefer. The review of each port was so helpful: the culture, history, and geography of each city visited was throughly previewed and these too were availble on the tv index. The Program Director was so helpful and appeared to be cloned as she was everywhere at once. Her enthusiasm was infectious. I cannot say enough positive things about Viking and this cruise. Our next cruise will be with Viking on a river but we will return to the ocean on Viking I'm certain.

Cabin Review

Cabin 9043
The cabin had ample room for two people and travel clothes. The Veranda was nice for morning coffee or an evening drink. There is a couch and a king sized bed and plenty of drawer and closet space. The bathroom itself was standard cruise ship small but the shower is nicely laid out. A luxury item is a heated floor!
The room steward was a miracle worker. He kept the room clean and tidy and was always around if we needed ice or anything else.
