We had sailed above the arctic circle with Viking in 2016 and loved the ship and the experience so much that we booked the Viking Homelands cruise. The itinerary was perfect as, at a leisurely pace, we were able to visit 8 lovely countries over a 14-day ocean cruise.

We had sailed with Viking on numerous river cruises throughout Europe and enjoyed them immensely. Viking translated the luxury and the rich experience of the river cruises to their ocean cruises.

We started out in Stockholm and ended up in Bergen, Norway and sailed on the Viking Sea. The cabin accommodations were ideal: each cabin has a veranda view and is comfortable with plenty ot storage and a delightful bonus is room service is included 24/7.

Cabin Review

Cabin Veranda standard room

The cabin had ample room for two people and travel clothes. The Veranda was nice for morning coffee or an evening drink. There is a couch and a king sized bed and plenty of drawer and closet space. The bathroom itself was standard cruise ship small but the shower is nicely laid out. A luxury item is a heated floor!

The room steward was a miracle worker. He kept the room clean and tidy and was always around if we needed ice or anything else.

Port Reviews

Aalborg

Very nice small city. Easy to navigate and we were greeted by Vikings who offered us a beverage and a toast to the gods.

Eidfjord

A simply stunning port of call with easy access to a gift shop and the small village. We were taken by bus to the Nature Center and saw a film on the environment and visited the adjacent gift shop that has an excellent coffee shop. The mountains were beautiful.
