We chose the Viking Homeland cruise because it is also my homeland. We chose Viking Ocean Cruises specifically because of the size of the ship. We prefer smaller ships with fewer passengers than many other Cruise Lines offer. We also like that it is all-inclusive.

I had one glitch when boarding when someone accidentally took my passport from my tray when personal items went through security. I spent a tense few hours before it was returned. The staff could not have been nicer or more supportive during that stressful time. I hope they improve that aspect of security upon boarding.

It was a dream come true to sail the Baltic Sea. We thoroughly enjoyed every port. The tour guides were knowledgeable, personable and often quite humorous. We preferred the Walking Tours to the Bus Tours because it seemed as though we had more time to experience the city while browsing in shops and taking photos.

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse Balcony

The cabin was spacious and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the view of the passing scenery from our balcony. The bathroom was larger than we had experienced on other cruises which was greatly appreciated.

Port Reviews

Aalborg

This was a really fun stop with Vikings awaiting us as we stepped back in time. Historically, the "Boys of St. Petri's" caused much grief to the occupying Nazis in this town during WWII. We were impressed that college students attend school for free, with housing included as well as a stipend. We could learn from the Danes on how to support our upcoming generation.

Eidfjord

The trip up the fjord was breathtaking with tall, snow-covered mountains, cascading waterfalls and charming scenery with goats eating grass on top of buildings. Eidfjord is a village right out of a storybook.
