This was a holiday to celebrate my 60th birthday and we were able to combine it with our 32nd wedding anniversary. The holiday started with a huge thunderstorm as we approached Civitavecchia but that's the last we saw of rain until the cruise finished. The boarding was slightly delayed due to flooding within the boarding hall but once the rain cleared it was fairly straightforward and efficient. Our luggage took a little time to arrive at our stateroom but it gave us a little time to explore the ship and start taking advantage of our drinks packages. Our room (7110) was everything we expected and our room attendant, Basri, was excellent, very friendly and extremely helpful. The complete cruise was very enjoyable. The food was fantastic. We ate most nights in the main dining room (Opus) with one night, our anniversary, in the Tuscan Grille. This was incredible. Service was always great and we never had too long to wait before being seated. Breakfasts in the Oceanview buffet venue where excellent with great choices on offer. Some of the entertainment was 1st class, some of it just ok. The cruise Director, Damian, is a professional and very good at his job. Equally as good is Giuseppe, the activity manager, full of enthusiasm and very entertaining. The ports of call were all great with our favourite probably Santorini. The shore excursions are over priced so we generally did our own thing without difficulty. We stayed in Rome for 3 nights in The Empire Palace. This was also an excellent choice within easy walking distance to most of the main tourist attractions. Nothing fancy, very clean and homely with the most fantastic Gelato shop less than a minutes walk away. Should you stay in the Empire Palace, just take a right as you exit the hotel and take the first right again into Via Silvo Spaventa. It's no more than 50m down the street. There's a great little restaurant very nearby, Ristorante Da Giovanni, again less than a 5 minute stroll from the hotel. Take a left when exiting the hotel, walk to the top of the street until you reach the Via Venti Settembre, turn right and take the first on the right. It's just a few metres down Via Antonio Salandra. Great food and very reasonably priced.

Pure luxury.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Verandah
Cabin 2B 7110
Very clean and more than adequate for our purposes. Bathroom also excellent. Quiet at nights. Room attendant (Basri) was excellent. The room is situated almost at the very front of the ship. Absolutely no problems at all.
