We had been on the ship before and decided to book the Baltic Cruise as its one we had been thinking about for some time. We booked at the end of our cruise in September 2017 one of the main reasons for this was so we could be sure of getting Select dining.This was confirmed at the time and later on in our booking details and again by an email offering us fixed Dining 3 weeks before we sailed, with the comment that if we didn't wish to elect for Fixed Dining we didn't need to do anything. However when we reached our cabin there was a card on the Bed allocating us fixed Dining for the 6 pm slot. Representations to the Maitre 'D fell on deaf ears as he admitted that there had been a massive overbooking of Select dining to the tune of hundreds of people and there was nothing that could be done. Our complaints to Customers services on returning home resulted in fairly bland responses. So for us there were two real issues

1. in the way it was handled no up front apology or communication just the card to announce the change .

2. It was especially galling to find out from chatting to our fellow passengers that people who had booked much later than we did, were in allocated Select Dining. So the choice of who was allocated did not appear to be on first come first served basis. Read more
