We chose this cruise to see the Baltic. We added a few days in Germany after the cruise to pursue seeing my Husband's Grandfather's homeland of Germany. We highly recommend this tour and cruise line. It was great getting on in Germany versus Copenhagen. I think the check in was easier, and we had a day to relax while other's were touring. One down size was the excursions. There was too little time for bathroom and shopping breaks. Russia's 2 day excursion about killed us in it's pace. I think maybe next time I would do the on-off bus excursions. We did this in Berlin. It allows more personal time, and the audio purchased at the palace was great explaining everything. In defense of the excursions; they are safer than going on your own, and the limited time in port does sometimes warrant a full schedule. All of our guides were great. All accommodations, entertainment, and staff on the ship were great. Time spent in the spa was heavenly. Meals in the general areas were delicious. We went to three specialty restaurants: Cagney's Steak House; Le Bistro's French Restaurant; and La Cochina's Italian Restaurant were superb. Everyone be prepared to spend two hours for dinner in any of these restaurants. I highly recommend 5:30 pm reservations, so as to walk some of the food off and to avoid missing any 7:30 entertainment. I noticed most of the fellow cruisers booked these later in the evening, though. On a night we decided to miss the 7:30 entertainment we did book a later time, which did work out (this dinner was no later than 7 pm). The Breakfast Buffet on deck 15 is great prior to your shore excursions. It is quick, while providing excellent food and service. An inside cabin worked wonderful for us. We had comfort, and our cabin was in the most convenient part of the ship (Port Side Mid-Ship) room 5161. We can't wait to book another cruise. We had a great time. We loved our ship and the places we visited. Kudo's to everyone on staff on the Getaway!

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Inside Stateroom
Cabin IE 5161
Our cabin was very comfortable, and housekeeping continued to provide all we needed. We slept like babies. We really loved our cabin's location of mid-ship port side. It was close to the theater, restaurants, customer service, and best of all shore excursion meeting spots for exiting and returning to ship. Everything was convenient. We loved our inside cabin.

  • Catherine Palace
We saw a lot in the two day tour best of excursion. Guide and things seen were good. It was too extensive a schedule done in two days time for older people due to the waits outside, stairs and walking. We did not get enough bathroom or shopping time. I think a full day and then maybe a half day the second day would have been better for us.

Guide was great at explaining the things seen. Glad we were one of the first groups allowed into this museum. Other tours had a much longer wait on entering the museum.

Unfortunately due to the wait on entering this palace we had to move rather quickly, and our guide unfortunately could not allow for shopping time. She voiced her regret, but we had to get back to the ship for departure. We loved our guide. Somehow this place needs a quicker entrance process.

Very relaxed, and provided more information and photo opportunities during our free time on the ship booked excursion.

Tour guide was great. He was very animated, and added cultural tidbits. We were allowed for on own time, and shopping. Our favorite excursion.
Our tour guide even pin-pointed a bathroom with a minimum wait line for us females. Kudos!

Wish we had booked some of old town. Maybe next time we would do the on-off tours. We lacked bathroom and shopping times.
