Embarkation was speedy. We arrived around 11 am and boarded in about 15 minutes.

Debarkation was also speedy. We opted for dragging our own bags, since we had an early flight out of Sea-Tac. We were through customs as the first bags were being unloaded. We were out of the terminal by 7:30, in the (previously reserved) airport shuttle by 8, and at the airport by around 8:45.

The ship is identical to the Equinox, which we’ve been on before. All of the staff were very pleasant and seemed genuinely happy we were there. The food was good and we were quite impressed with the buffet at the Ocean View Café. The main selections for lunch and dinner varied each day.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1A

Cabin 1A

Cabin 9238. This cabin was very quiet, since there are cabins above and below. The sofa is next to the balcony. The room safe takes up a lot of space in the closet. (On the Equinox, the safe was moved to a spot above the mini-fridge.) There was lots of storage space for two, and we even had empty drawers in the bathroom. Internet speed was acceptable and emails downloaded well. We didn’t do any streaming, so we have no comments about that. Be aware that if you split the beds into two doubles, the closet will be less than a foot away from the bed, making for a tight fit. The third bed is totally hidden in the ceiling.

Port Reviews

Seattle

Horrendous traffic. We visited the Boeing plant in Everett, which was very interesting.

Juneau

Rainy, foggy, stayed on board in Juneau. It looks like a very long walk if you decide to save money and not take the shuttle. We did take the Tracy Arm excursion, which turned into the Endicott Arm excursion. Compared to Glacier Bay, it wasn't as interesting. But if this is your only chance to see a glacier, it's worth it. There was a little bit of calving. I suggest not taking the more expensive excursion here. Their boat was within 50 feet of ours.

Skagway

We've been here before and the train is a must-see. Regrettably, Skagway had a mudslide early that morning and closed the dock and train. We were diverted to Icy Strait.

Icy Strait

We were diverted here after Skagway had a mudslide that closed the pier earlier in the morning. It appears Icy Strait can only handle one ship, so Celebrity used six of their lifeboats as tenders. There isn’t much in the town of Hoonah. The area around the dock has a lot to see: restaurants, gifts stores, etc. If you really want to eat the local seafood, be prepared to spend some serious money. King crab legs were selling for $28 a leg.

Victoria

We walked to Fisherman's Wharf. It's an easy walk, through tree-lined streets.
