My husband and I had been on many Caribbean cruises and enjoyed them all, but had never been to Alaska. Being in Texas, we were tired of the heat and wanted to cooler temperatures. We'd never been to Seattle, either, so we went a couple of days before the cruise to get to know the city. My husband found the perfect airbnb spot, right near Post Alley at the Pike Place Market. However, being from Texas and not knowing that most apartments did not have air conditioning, we found it out the hard way. It didn't help that Seattle was in the middle of a heatwave when we were there. We ended up finding a wonderful boutique hotel in downtown Seattle (the Kimpton Palladian) that was in the perfect spot and had that luxurious air conditioning that we were so craving. We explored Pike Place Market, took a Savor Seattle food tasting tour through it, and had some fabulous seafood! We were going to go on an airplane ride to view Mt. Ranier but the view was diminished by the haze and smoke of the fires burning in the surrounding states.

We took an Uber to Pier 91 and got there at about 11:45. Since we were in AquaClass, we had an abbreviated wait for embarkation. The pier was crowded, but not overly crowded. Our cabin wasn't ready until 1:30, so we went to the Oceanview Cafe to eat. The food was good, and the layout with all of the food stations was a nice setup.

Our cabin was quite spacious and worth the upgraded price. We got two bottles of water each day, a bottle of champaign, fresh fruit, and delicious tea in our cabin each day. The shower had a large head and body "jets" to surround you as you showered. I will admit, though, that it took a while to figure out how to regular the water temperature. It went from cold to scalding in no time! In looking more at the perks of AquaClass as listed on the Celebrity website, I realize that we didn't get a pillow menu, and I didn't need a personal spa concierge. One of the perks is access to the Persian Gardens, which are heated stone lounges that you lie on. I was a little turned off by the fact that no one really explained what to do or to wear once you got into the room where they were. I was handed a card at the spa desk in exchange for my SeaPass card. I went to the women's locker room to put my stuff away. I was wearing gym clothes as I was going to work out afterwards so I didn't know if I should strip down and just wear the robe or what. I'm glad I kept my gym clothes on, as apparently the Gardens are unisex, as I found swimsuit-clad men and women resting on the loungers. I was overdressed but oh well.

Cabin Review

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

The layout was perfect; the storage space ample. The storage was more in the bathroom, so there was less clutter in the living area of the cabin itself. The bed was right next to the balcony. There was an overhang on the balcony that cut off some of the view of the sky.

Port Reviews

Victoria

Victoria was quite clean and beautiful. There were more homeless people in the downtown area than I would have expected. The pub at which we ate had good food and great beer.
