We did explore Lisbon for one day before the cruise. We did a "hop on/hop off" tour and it was wonderful. We stayed at the Lisbon Intercontinental Hotel, booking that through Silversea. We opted to get a cab to the ship which was much less than using Silversea transfer. The staff at the Intercontinental were great. The Silversea rep told me that since I had booked the room through Silversea I was automatically signed up for the transfer. That is not the case. She was misinformed.

We were on a Silversea cruise to Alaska in 2013 and it was EXCELLENT. So great, in fact, I have recommended Silversea to ALL my friends. The Muse trip was another story. The positives: BEAUTIFUL ship. WONDERFUL suite decor, size, and AMAZING service with our butler, Shakil. We had great food every single day and wonderful wines. Excellent service from everyone we met.

Now, the not so good: Room NOISE was extreme. We asked our butler to have our ceiling looked at because the noise in the ceiling kept us awake a few nights. The door to the balcony rattled. The creaking in the room was unreal. Secondly, we did not realize that we HAD to have dinner reservations EVERY night. One of our party (there were two couples traveling together) spoke with a person from corporate who was on the ship and she made sure we got a table each night at 7pm (two nights we were "wait listed")

Classic Verandah Suite

Cabin CV

Cabin 508 is beautiful. It is spacious. The bathroom is wonderful with separate shower and tub. The water is always hot. The toilet is great. However, the NOISE in this cabin was shocking. I do understand that we are aboard a SHIP and it moves in the water (which on a few nights was very rough) but the creaking and the tapping and the knocking noises were unreal. We asked our butler to have the ceiling looked at as it seemed the railing that holds the curtain or the vent above it was somehow loose. We did not receive any notification that work had been done. We did receive a note saying our exterior teak railing had been treated while we were out of the room. The location of 508 is good as it is the level we disembarked most of the time. We loved having cocktails "just down the hall" from our room as the team working in that area were wonderful.

Port Reviews

Lisbon

Used hop on hop off.

Porto (Leixoes)

Red Bull event going on along the River which added some interest to the day. Beautiful city, bus ride from ship was okay. Enjoyed our time there on our own. Walked a lot, very hilly.

La Coruna

Santiago de Compostela Tour was great.
