I loved this cruise. Definitely one of my favorites. Our journey started by driving 5.5 hours to Washington Dulles for our direct flight to Copenhagen on SAS airlines. No problems. Landed on time and proceeded to luggage to take our ship transfer to the ship. They put us on a transfer/tour bus so we got a free tour of Copenhagen! Check-in was fast. We just turned Platinum so got in our special line and on the ship within 15 minutes of arrival at the port. Originally in an inside cabin, we bid for a balcony and got it. So glad we did, even though the weather was not conducive to sitting and enjoying your balcony. The room size is larger, it's nice to wake up and see the port from your room and we had an excellent location, just off the elevators. Our room steward, as is usually the case, did a wonderful job cleaning our room. He managed to find just the right times when we were not in our cabin to do the cleaning. This has not always been the case as on some cruises we have often had to wait till 9 PM or later for our room to be ready so really appreciated his timing. I like the layout of the ship. Almost everything, except the buffet, gym and spa is located on decks 6,7 and 8. We were on deck 13, so just two floors down from the buffet and five floors up from the Moderno Breakfast buffet which we ate at every morning, except the last day. Also, wanted to note Moderno had themed lunches. My husband loved the Indian lunch buffet. Best Indian food he has ever tasted. (He is a foodie.) In terms of entertainment, I highly recommend the Russian Folkloric show and Million Dollar Quartet. Unfortunately, the comedian/magician was boring. While I appreciate the Burn the Floor dancers and singers work hard, it is just not my cup of tea. The DJs were great and the entertainment staff kept everyone laughing and having a good time at the disco. As we turned Platinum, we were afforded a free ship tour which was excellent. The Cruise Next director who is also in charge of Platinum cruisers was very nice and helpful. She gave a personal reminder call about this tour etc. We took ship sponsored tours everywhere except Sweden. One area of disappointment was that we did not actually dock in Stockholm, but Nynäshamn . They did allow extra time in port however and if you wanted to tour Stockholm it was a short train ride away or you could opt for the hop on hop off bus which left from port. We had been to Stockholm before so decided to just walk around Nynäshamn and enjoyed our full day in the fresh air. I thought all the tours were great but especially loved our time in St. Petersburg. This however, was the only other disappointment. Our evening tour to the Hermitage was cancelled due to lack of participation. A real bummer. But, decided to spend the credit from the cancelled tour on Russian items. The best prices are at the dock. The ship also sponsors a very popular Russian Bazaar with some items not found in the stores. In terms of dining, we enjoyed our morning buffets at Moderno. We always found a seat easily. Most lunches were included on our tours, but other days we enjoyed the buffet in the Garden Cafe. Most of our dinners were at Cagneys. No more wagyu beef sliders, but the steaks are still great. Being Platinum, we got a free meal at Moderno. This was surprisingly good. We have never loved the meats before, only enjoying their buffet spread, but they have improved!!! We also tried Shanghais. The food is good, but the seating is not. You are seated at bar type tables. No privacy and right next to smoky casino. We took the ships transfers back to the airport. Easy breezy. Plenty of time for our 12:20 fight home.
