  3. Emerald Liberte
Prior to the cruise, our feelings of anticipation were equalled by those of apprehension, but our experience was extremely positive. The Emerald Liberte, (2017), is stunningly designed, her lines are clean and crisp with clever use of mirrors. Every inch was utilised pragmatically in our panorama balcony suite. Suitcases go under the bed - there is just enough room to perform this manoeuvre, Wardrobe and drawer space is sufficient for one week's cruise wear. We are both quite slightly built, and so the shower room space was adequate, although people of larger dimensions might struggle getting into and out of the shower. Dining, especially in the evening, was first class, and in addition to the buffet breakfast and lunch, there is a lighter option available in the horizon bar. The only minor criticism is a tendency towards over-efficiency in clearing tables in readiness for the next service. Evening entertainment in the bar is varied, The pianist, Zoltan, is superb, and the crew's show was possibly the highlight of the week. Excursions were well-planned, catering for passengers' varying degrees of fitness., and the well-equipped sun deck is a great place to relax after sightseeing. Overwhelmingly, though, the greatest accolade goes to the crew. The perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness displayed by Captain Leleu, Cruise Director Patricia Muhardjo, and Hotel Manager Istvan Koszti, was evident in all crew members. It's impossible to single-out any particular person for praise, because service from all the crew was par excellence. Our fellow-passengers; Australians, Brits, Canadians and Scots were lovely, and we have been touched, on several occasions, by the kindness of strangers. In the apocalyptic times in which we find ourselves these days, the entire experience was uplifting and enjoyable.
