Our first ever river cruise and well lived up to expectations. The panorama cabin was well configured with luxury bathroom toiletries and was kept immaculately clean (as was the whole ship). Food was of excellent quality and choice. The service was 5*.

My only reservations was the excursions began too early ( for a leisurely breakfast ) and returned too late (for showers and change for dinner). I have read other reviews of similar comments but it seems Avalon have not taken it onboard (sorry for the pun). The Cruise Director was a tad brusque when challenged over my comment. The pre-embarkation hotel room was dowdy and miserable.

The dress code for the evening is smart casual which we enjoyed. Evening entertainment is mostly a piano player with one night classical music which was very good. A relaxed atmosphere pervade. Read more
