Rhapsody of the Seas Cruise Review by harold369
- Sail Date: September 2017
- Destination: Eastern Mediterranean
We sailed a year ago on NCL Jade and wanted to try RHAPSODY OTS this time; we are DIAMOND MEMBERS on RCCL.
The only difference were the perks we get on NCL as PLATINUM PLUS.
The ship is small but was very clean and the staff were very efficient and friendly.
There was a lot of fish to eat at lunch and or supper; we eat less meat as we are getting older.
We choose My TIME DINING and the serve by our waiters were always very efficient and our assistant waiter was more personable than the head waiter but we always received great serve.
The food selections were also great at lunch and supper. We had a junior suite and it was a nice size for two and our attendant was AMAZING; room always clean and left what we needed for Shampoo and Conditioner. The shows were very good , especially the AMERICAN DREAM- African-Americans stole the show- they deserved a Standing Ovation. The Cruise director was very good and we saw him before each show; he and his crew did a Fantastic job.
We arrive two days before cruise to explore Venice and stayed two days after to explore Venice. The ship that is more than18 years, is still a nice ship. We will be returning to the Greek Island next year on NCL and out of ROME, that cruise is 10 nights ; we like longer cruises and if Rhapsody would have been 10 or 11 nights- it would have been amazing.
We choose NCL next time for all the perks for staying in a SUITE.
We will be on ANTHEM OTS this December for 12 NIGHTS; we were on this ship last year for 5 nights and really enjoyed it.
A great perk for being DIAMOND on RCCL ships, we can go at HAPPY HOUR to the DIAMOND lounge for hors oeurves and cocktails ; which are complimentary to DIAMOND MEMBERS and ABOVE. WE also can get 3 complimentary drinks from a selection menu from the bars.
It was a great CRUISE on RHAPSODY OTS. IF in the future there is an itinerary we like, we will sail again on RHAPSODY OTS.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews
Argostoli (Kefalonia)We took an excursion with Royal to a Village that is 90 minute drive. We drive along the coast. The view is stunning; only my wife is nervous we were were driving along the coast. We stopped at the village for OUZO and a light snack. We explore this little village for 40 minutes before returning. We made another stop below a Castle for photos and stop quickly for a view of the coast. It was a great excursion, a long drive with great views of the coast.View All 73 Argostoli (Kefalonia) Cruise Port Reviews

City TourWe had a 3.5 hour City Sights Tour with RCCL. We had three sights to see. The Arch, below ACROPOLIS and Olympic Stadium. We arrived and left the ship before 1pm; which is late for arrival- next year on another cruise we arrive after 8 am- much better. We had a great guide. We enjoyed the three stops and gave us a general idea for our stop next year. I will choose Piraeus Express Tours for their 4 or 6 hour Tours at 20-25 Euros Tours plus entrance fees of 22 euros. Arriving in the morning is better than after 1 pm. I am glad I choose this tour but my selection would have been different if we arrived in the morning.View All 154 City Tour Reviews
CorfuWe took an excursion the last time we were here and decided to explore the city; which is close to the port. We also wanted to see the OLD FORTRESS in Corfu; the shuttle ( 1.7 euros ) dropped us off near the Old Fortress and OLD TOWN. There is no fee at OLD FORTRESS, it is something to see; we did not have time to see NEW FORTRESS. We wanted to see an OLD SYNAGOGUE in CORFU; opens at 11 am. We walked around and saw some Old Churches. Lots of stores. We had another GELATO in Corfu. Was worth exploring Corfu. We went back to drop off spot for bus, we did not have to wait long; the drive from Port to Corfu is quick; there is ONLY one stop and that is CORFU center.View All 650 Corfu Cruise Port Reviews
Near this huge park are the places to eat, the waiters have to cross over from the restaurants and terasses. We really enjoyed walking around Corfu; none of the expensive excursions impressed us to select one.

KotorWe walked around Kotor, the ship is close to OLD TOWN. We wanted to Explore KOTOR by ourselves. I took the trail up the mountain for 3 EUROS. A great view but a very difficult walk up the mountain: rocky and steps are uneven. Was not a easy walk, it was very hot, need lots of water- there was a man with water for 1 euro. It takes a least 40 minutes one way. I arrived 35 minutes later at a little Church on the mountain. My wife was waiting at the bottom and decided it would take another 15-20 minutes to reach the tip and I descended down. The views of the Port were amazing, I could see our ship tendered in the port. There were a lot of shops and restaurants in the Old Town. Our stay is a couple of hours and We felt it was better to explore the city than take an expensive excursion; also the Gelato was great after a strenuous walk.View All 705 Kotor Cruise Port Reviews

MykonosWe were here last year and choose an excursion. I wanted to explore Mykonos. We arrived early to explore. I realized afterwards that I should have taken a ferry to DELOS to explore; there was a 9 am and 10:30 am ferry. Plenty of time to explore and return on 3:30 pm ferry. The next time we will have to take an excursion with the ship; we arrive at a time that we can not take the ferry.View All 1,031 Mykonos Cruise Port Reviews
We enjoyed walking around, we tendered and we dropped off near the town near the port; docking we would have been farther and needed the ferry( 2 euros ); it is too far to walk.
We arrived early and the shops open after 9 am.

VeniceWe explored Venice before and after our cruise. We stayed at ANTONY HOTEL in MESTRE. A shuttle picked us up at AIRPORT and if we wanted we could get shuttle to bring us to VENICE; 5 euros pp each way. We also for 9 euros were dropped at the Port of Venice. There was a number 5 public bus ( 1.5 Euros ) near the hotel that was very efficient and reliable to PLAZZA ROMA. The Hotel was great stay, we stayed at ANTONY PALACE last year but this one was closer to Venice and dropped us off at PORT.View All 1,422 Venice Cruise Port Reviews
