My husband and I chose NCL since they were the only cruise line that offered an overnight stay in Hanava which provided 2 full days of exploration in Cuba. We are not big cruise travelers (have only done 2 prior -- both in Europe), but we felt this would be the best way to explore Cuba. The ship itself (NCL Sky) was smaller than other ships we have been on, but it was well maintained. I don't think it would suffice for more than a 5 day cruise -- you might feel claustrophobic. Systems such as embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. Every staff member was incredibly outgoing and focused on service. The food in the buffet and the formal dining rooms was well prepared. My only complaint about dining was the limited amount of Gluten Free Options. There would be 1 or 2 options on the dinner menu (the same chicken every night), but they took more of a "you need to figure out how to accommodate yourself with our food" (i.e. no choices) instead of a "we will do our best to accommodate you (i.e. gluten free pasta option or prepared slightly differently). We travel to All Inclusive resorts in Mexico every year and they are very accommodating of my GF preference -- right down to GF pancake or french toast options in the morning. The cabin was small, but well designed with plenty of storage and the shower was surprisingly highly functional for being so small. The pools are tiny -- I guess they are on most ships, but their was adequate seating. We were very surprised to learn that this particular cruise included all of your alcoholic drinks. We are not big drinkers, but it is nice to enjoy cocktail or a glass of wine and not worry about cost. Overall, I would choose NCL again based on this experience.
