We chose this cruise because it was my Mother and Father in laws dream vacation for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. My husband and I wanted to see Alaska. This was our first cruise. We are used to doing All Inclusive vacations.
Personally, If I was trying to decide between an All inclusive vacation or a Cruise, I'd choose the All Inclusive vacation any day. I feel you get more for your money. The excursions on a cruise cost more money than they normally would because you are limited on time pick up and drop off. I also feel a cruise is a little more geared toward people who like to sit around more and shop.
It was extremely relaxing, maybe too much for our style.
The cabin was neat and clean. The bed was a little uncomfortable. I had a hard time closing the balcony door, it wouldn't stay shut. Everything else was as expected.
They closed the bars hours earlier than usual on the pool deck causing us to parade through the restaurants in our bathing suits to get a drink.
I felt I was nickel and dimed for every opportunity they had to make a buck. Water bottles were extra and expensive and couldn't bring your own. A mandatory 18% gratuity each person per day and didn't announce until the last day that none of that gets shared with the bartenders. An additional 3.00 gratuity fee added to each persons bill for dining at the nice restaurants that they fail to mention. And if you pay for the special dining package you better book your reservations early unless you like eating at 9:00pm. This particular cruise seemed to be aimed more for the elderly.
The staff was very polite and worked hard to make your stay enjoyable. The ship is kept clean and nice. Overall it was a good experience I just felt a little ripped off. The scenery was breathtaking!
