It has been10 years since we last sailed on the Thomson Spirit and we were expecting it to be showing its age but it goes to show age isn't everything. From stepping on board to our final day we could not fault the service of all the staff on board the Thomson Spirit.
Our cabin was on the 3rd deck, the décor was dated but it was clean and tidy and the bed was extremely comfortable.
We ate at the Compass Rose restaurant most evenings and the food was lovely, Adrian (the Maitre D'hôtel) and the waiters were very attentive and their after dinner sing along was wonderful.
The entertainment in the Broadway Show Lounge was top class, as good as any West End show. The guest act was Martin Daniels and his show was excellent.
We booked this cruise for its port of calls, especially Athens and Olympia, we had plenty of time to visit the local attractions, as most days we docked at 08.00 and did not sail until 18.00 hours. Both tours guides on the above trips, we only booked the two, were very informative.
Our luggage was collected on our day of departure and was checked in by Thomson's at the airport and we next saw it at arrival in the U.K.
Overall this was a relaxing holiday, made especially so by the friendliness of the crew who always had a smile and a greeting of Good Morning /Evening.
Of note it was also good to be able to walk the promenade deck, 5 laps equals one mile, which you do not get on many of the newer, modern ships.
