  3. Crown Princess
We chose this cruise for the ports of call. They included Bruges(which we had visited before , along with Copenhagen,Oslo, and Helsingborg (which we had never seen). We had taken Princess before and knew service was hit and miss so we did not have high hopes , but service was worse then expected. Embarkation was long and disorganized with nary a Princess staff member in site(a common theme on this ship as it turns out). It was chaos as it was claimed there were numerous visa issues but all had been told weeks before to get a color photocopy of your passport, which was never asked for or needed. We had an inside cabin which had enough closet space , however there is an end table that there was no room for and served no other than to be tripped over. The bedding was old and lumpy. The pillows were so soft they were unusable and unchangeable per the steward. Meals had all the charm and flavor of a down on your luck college meal plan. The breakfast buffet claimed they prepared made to order eggs but would not poach an egg. The one morning they had poached eggs, they were so hard that the yolk was solidified. The rest of the food was cold. My wife had an omelet that was so watery it was inedible. One never saw an officer in the buffet or dining room My wife.had an issue with a server in main dining where she was clearly treated with contempt based on her race. We asked to speak with an officer and none were made available for a day and a half. Guest Services and Maitre'd blamed each other. When I asked to speak with the Food and Beverage Manager, I was told he did not speak to guests. The only time he was seen was at a champagne toast. The ports had poor timing. Belgium on a Sunday, most places are closed. Oslo was not enough time, and Helsingborg there was nothing there. Those who took the ship excursion complained that the castle they were to visit was closed, they never got the lunch they paid for,and the guide could not care less. Another reason never to take a Princess excursion. It was very difficult to get a drink at the poor unless you gave a tip first saw this being done. There was constant upselling as numerous flyers for the art auction and spa, which became annoying. Both Crown grill and Sabatini's were good but overprices which made reservations easy. The crew was not pleasant but not rude, just very mechanical. A good morning got ignored or just a nod. they seemed very unhappy. We gave Princess two tries but doubtful on a third.
