Norwegian Spirit Cruise Review by rsm9

Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Aug 2017
  • Destination: the Mediterranean
  • Cabin Type: Balcony

The cruise was chosen due to several Mediterranean ports we had not been to before. The embarkation area although very busy went very smoothly. Our cabin was ready, clean and tidy. The cabin was well situated for the dining areas and theatre. However, read the cabin review below. The anytime dining worked well for us as it meant we could dine when we liked, late back from an excursion relax before dinner, wanted to see the early show etc. We had the all inclusive drinks package which was good value for money. We also tried two of the specialty restaurants (teppanyaki and Cagney's) both were excellent. Some of the main shows were excellent others were just ok. Service on-board was good with waiters etc. very polite. There were several good ports to see with Santorini being very picturesque. Our shore excursions were kept to minimum regarding walking etc. due to health problems but there are excursions for everyone. However, on at least two occasions our excursions were cancelled due to lack of interest but this was not known until we boarded the ship. Getting a suitable replacement proved difficult. Although the ship was full it never appeared to be crowded. We would certainly cruise with Norwegian again.

Cabin Review

Cabin BX 9702

This is a cabin you want to give a miss. Although the cabin was comfortable, the issue was at night when the ship was travelling at speed. Within the cabin there was a vibration noise all around the cabin (like metal on glass). If you are a light sleeper then you will be awake all night. This went on for six nights. On the sixth night when eventually the cabin was quiet, at 2.20am loungers being pulled across the deck and items being dropped woke us up. The deck above is one of the pool areas. The view from the balcony is reduced by about 35-40% due to the ships superstructure. This leads to part of the balcony being in the shade. To enjoy the sunlight the two seats would need to be crammed in at one end of the balcony. To get into the toilet you have to pass thro' a narrow sliding door, which if you are a bit on the large side can be painful with the door edge scrapping your stomach. Other than these issues the room was ok.
