Viking Ocean costs a bit more than others, but pretty much everything is included. LOVED: Our room. 3092, the lowest category, suited us fine! We actually were moved to another room category on a higher floor (long story) and the rooms were identical (except for coffee maker and refill of sodas in 'fridge) but we liked being on a lower floor better for the close-up view of the shoreline. The upgraded room was right by the elevator and we were super worried that we'd hear people endlessly chatting, but couldn't hear a sound... these doors are really sound-proof! Heated floors... how did we ever live without them? Staff virtually never passes by without a big 'hello' of some sort. Amazing staff from kitchen to room staff. Balcony was plenty big to sit comfortably Service Service Service... and Breakfast room service -- we used this almost every morning and it was always on time, hot, and just as ordered. Hard to get ice in Europe... so asked our cabin steward to bring ice daily and he never failed to bring a bucket of ice at the designated time! The included spa area -- great dressing room, amazing large hot tub and hot soaking pool (nice and hot) and lounge area. Used this almost daily. LIKED: Musicians in the common area... all outstanding quality-- especially enjoyed the solo guitarist and the pianist. Day after day, we thought, "where is everybody?" Just under 1,000 passengers rarely felt like more than a couple hundred. Most often just a few by the (smallish) pool, a few in the (included) spa area.... etc. Only a couple of lunches (when all got back at roughly the same time because ship was leaving) seemed very crowded. Problems were handled efficiently and with a smile. Dinner options. Were told we could only make x-number of reservations at specialty restaurants but really could most always book when we wanted using the tv screen. We especially liked Manifreddi's and their steak was among the best I've ever had. We go to Italy often, and thought the food was really authentic, starting with a high quality Parmesan cheese and on up from there. Also liked that we could book the chef's table and see the full menu when booking (at the reception desk) to know exactly what to expect. The included laundry room... great to get a few things clean, and good place to meet others! Really appreciated. Included excursions were mostly good-not-great and somewhat shorter than expected (usually the last hour+ was on our own) with a couple of the small towns being just awful.. An oil museum? Just not our thing. The nature museum left us with a lot of free time, but not a single trail to walk... more like an advertisement for Norway. Why go to a gorgeous fjord and sit inside and see a movie showing the nature surrounding you? If we had it to do again, we would definitely book optional tours in the small towns. really bad. Not-so-Much: Almost everything about this cruise was great. So much so, that we wanted to take advantage of the 'deals' on the ship and book another. Sadly, we didn't make an appointment until the last day. The guy was really busy (and complained about it) and kind of punked us off when we didn't jump right in the first 2 minutes. We had one in mind and when we didn't immediately jump, he didn't seem to want to take time to discuss other itineraries that interested us. We got home and discovered the new Northern Lights cruise... but felt annoyed that we lost our chance to get the extras. So we will pass on a quick 'next time'. FYI ***We traveled before and after the cruise, so made our own flight arrangements... BUT I heard many people complaining about their flight arrangements through Viking. All for different reasons.. never heard anything positive... so caution. ***We arranged to share a Saint Petersburg tour through the boards here on CruiseCritic. It worked out really well, and was a great wau to get to know a friendly group of people on the ship!

Almost Excellent Baltics Cruise... I do recommend

Cabin Review

Cabin 3092
Wonderful! Super comfy bed. Great sheets. Big TV. Nice balcony. Lots of room for toiletries and personal items in bathroom. LOVE the heated floors. Lighting convenient. Sound-proofed from hallways. Nothing rattled (can't take that for granted!!) Super friendly cabin service. Spotlessly clean.
