After much online research, we chose Scenic for our first river cruise! The all-inclusive aspect was very appealing as you do not have to pay extra for anything (except a massage or hairstyling) for the duration of the vacation. Of course you'll need money for souvenirs, and most importantly, always bring .50 euro coins to use the public restrooms in Europe. :) My husband and I are not fussy people and we go on vacation to enjoy ourselves, so we don't focus on seeing faults in the experience. That said here is my review.

THE SHIP and CABIN:

The Jasper is beautifully appointed. It's kept very clean and well maintained. Embarkation was easy and organized. We only waited a couple of minutes in the lounge, then after a quick check-in at reception, we were escorted by a butler to our cabin. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. Of course it is smaller than an ocean cruise cabin, but that was to be expected. It was well designed to make good use of the space. The bed was comfortable and the linens were SO soft and cozy. The closets were roomy enough for us, and there is plenty of room under the bed for suitcases, souvenirs, etc. The closet has a safe (large enough for a laptop), a mini fridge replenished daily with your choice of beverages. My husband requested some lime wedges to alway have on hand for his water and there was always a small bowl of them in the mini fridge. There are robes, slippers, personal size blanket, umbrella and walking sticks provided. Also, the Tailormade devices to use with a tour guide or touring on your own. Our balcony had 2 wicker chairs and a table. There is a retractable window for fresh air. The bathroom has a lighted make-up mirror, and enough shelf space. The shower was spacious with a great rainfall shower head and a handheld shower head and cool colored lighting.

Port Reviews

Wurzburg

We toured the Prince-Bishop's Palace. Absolutely gorgeous with beautiful gardens and lots of interesting history. We toured the vast wine cellar beneath the palace and had a wine tasting there. Three glasses of excellent wine before noon...then out of the candlelit cellar and into the sunlight Whoa! What fun. :)

Nuremberg

Another quaint German town. Excellent gingerbread. Enjoyed walking tour.

Bamberg

We enjoyed the town, and tried the smoked beer they are famous for...hmmm different taste. I'll stick to pilsener. ;)

Regensburg

we cruised down the beautiful Danube gorge to the Weltenburg Abbey. Another beautiful church, then beer and pretzels. The monks there brew the beer.
