Happy Staff!

Sail Date: August 2017
Destination: Australia & New Zealand
Embarkation: Sydney (Australia)
So nice to see such happy staff on a P&O again!

They have embarkation & disembarkation down to a fine art. Had received a text to say delayed departure & come an hour later than scheduled & basically just walked through.

The refurb of the public areas looks great (was on the Dawn Princess last year). The cabins are looking very shabby though. Smell of sewerage at various points in the ship & noticed it first at the dock in Sydney before boarding. Not good.

Dining room layout is much improved and the new Pantry means that most food is served rather than passengers handling it. A much-needed improvement! Food itself was good to very good, but nothing outstanding. Toast was appalling! Tasted like gluten free bread! Service in all areas was excellent!

Only one port, Mooloolabah - a tender port & boy, some problems here! Average wait to get off was 30-45 minutes. Some waited more than an hour. Getting back on was even More worse & a long queue snaked around the dock with no seating or shade. Definitely need to improve in this department.

Would liked to have known about the 18+ entertainment, as it looked fun, but was sold out quickly (had to pay). Had no idea about it until that day & too late then. Less

Cabin shabby. Not refurbed & desperately needs it.

Port and Shore Excursions

Swim With Humpback Whales

Much more active than I saw described. I was expecting to float, holding onto a float line. Instead found those going in the water were required to swim up to 200m very fast so as to stay together & then swim back to the boat again. As I only do breaststroke, I was unable to participate and was quite disappointed. We did get very close to the whales & it was still an enjoyable afternoon.
