We are frequent NCL cruisers. This was my first time cruising since I've been in a wheelchair, and when we booked last October, we were advised there were no more ADA accessible rooms left, but we would be given on with a "wider" door than the regular cabins. That didn't happen. Actually, the only cabins with wide doors are the ADA cabins! We were told the ship was totally full so there was no other cabin to switch to. To the rescue comes Shirlyn ("She"). She found a couple who had an ADA cabin but could walk ( I cannot), who willingly gave us their cabin & took ours. If that had not occurred, I don't know what we would have done!! Thank you, She!!

The ports were nice, if the weather had cooperated, I believe we would have had a better time in Juneau & Ketchikan. The bartender in Ketchikan told us that they've seen the sun 12 times since May & that it is the rainiest summer they've ever experienced. As for the ship itself, the entertainment was great, Tim Kaminski the comedian & Jim the piano guy were the life of the party each night!! They both had us laughing the entire time! The food was basic cruise food, although I have to say the service in The Summer Palace went downhill after the first day. How an order of eggs over medium, turkey sausage & rye toast gets screwed up 3 days in a row is beyond me. And it happened with 3 different servers!!! That didn't ruin the great time we had, though. See you in 2 years, NCL!

We originally had an outside stateroom with a picture window, but had to switch to an inside room because our request for an ADA room was not noted.

Port Reviews

Juneau

Lots of good shopping. Had to laugh when I saw the "Glacier Silt Soap" store. Seriously?? That would be like putting sand in your soap. Such a gimmick...

Ketchikan

Didn't stay out too long due to the relentless downpour. Ended up drinking a very tasty Bloody Mary with some locals at the Anchor Bar. It was nice that it wasn't a tourist trap. Got to chat with some folks & have a few laughs!

Victoria

Beautiful city & nice people! We had dinner at an Irish pub & did minimal shopping, but it still made for a great evening because the weather was perfect!
