After 2 Royal Caribbean and 1 carnival cruise my family of 5 decided to try Norwegian. Embarkation took quite a while as computer system crashed twice.(this also happened a couple of times on board). My son 20, needed a waiver signed to allow him to have a beer and wine drinks package.this took ages at customer service which is ridiculous as we are in Europe where legal age to drink is 18. Normally all waivers can be done online..but not this one! These are a few points to note:- We had an inside cabin that slept 4 (3 of us shared) and an inside cabin for 2. Basically they are the same room but one has two bunk beds positioned directly above the double bed. We much preferred having a bed settee for the 3rd persons which Royal Caribbean does. The beds were comfy ,bathroom fine and Infact having the weird bathroom set up with a curtain did work as you had a larger private space to dry off and dress. Storage space is fantastic.definite lack of plug sockets. Food on board was really good, particularly the buffet breakfast and lunch. We do however always eat in the main restaurant as it normally feels special, however this didn't at all. Both main restaurants serve the same menu except one makes men wear trousers and covered shoes, even though women could wear anything! The meal choices were a little odd. Very small. And not much choice. Very un-inspiring and disappointing. Also as a family of 5 we were always given seating around the edge on a table for 4 with an extra chair on the end! The waiters were not attentive, often forgot to bring back your room card and made no conversation. Desserts were awful! All in all not a patch on Royal Caribbean or carnival! Evening entertainment however was very good. The cavern club was brilliant. Best Beatles tribute band ever. And rock band Siglo were great to. Not overkeen on the big show Priscilla queen of the desert. Should have been a more family friendly show in my opinion. Bowling was fun. Don't see why it should be an added $7pp. Very unfriendly man at the check in there! O'sheeans bar was great, nice staff good atmosphere. Unlike the pool bar waves! Staff there didn't seem happy at all. Barely smiled particularly a female bar tender who was never happy! Ports were good. Do not bother with Norwegians excursions very overpriced. Naples we walked around ourselves, very easy to navigate and signposted. Rome we used transport only with viator. Dropped and collected from the Vatican. Cost about £120 for 5. Then bought colosseum tickets online for £40. Don't be put off by the queues. They go quick if you've got your online voucher. Pisa. Again through viator we booked transfer only then 10 min walk to the tower. You do have to use the port shuttle though at an extra €5pp to get to the tour bus. (Tuscany tours). Cannes. Very easy to walk around, spent time on the beach or shopping if it's cooler. Palma we stayed onboard as have been there before. Overall we had a great cruise but the experience was better on Royal Caribbean in my opinion. That said adults will like the evening entertainment more on this ship.

Good cruise but could be better

Cabin Review

Family Inside
Cabin I1 13054
Small. Not good having bunk bed right above parents double bed. Bed settee would work better. Lack of plugs. Great storage. When bunk bed is down you can't see the tv.
