After 2 Royal Caribbean and 1 carnival cruise my family of 5 decided to try Norwegian. Embarkation took quite a while as computer system crashed twice.(this also happened a couple of times on board). My son 20, needed a waiver signed to allow him to have a beer and wine drinks package.this took ages at customer service which is ridiculous as we are in Europe where legal age to drink is 18. Normally all waivers can be done online..but not this one! These are a few points to note:-
We had an inside cabin that slept 4 (3 of us shared) and an inside cabin for 2. Basically they are the same room but one has two bunk beds positioned directly above the double bed. We much preferred having a bed settee for the 3rd persons which Royal Caribbean does. The beds were comfy ,bathroom fine and Infact having the weird bathroom set up with a curtain did work as you had a larger private space to dry off and dress. Storage space is fantastic.definite lack of plug sockets.
Food on board was really good, particularly the buffet breakfast and lunch. We do however always eat in the main restaurant as it normally feels special, however this didn't at all. Both main restaurants serve the same menu except one makes men wear trousers and covered shoes, even though women could wear anything! The meal choices were a little odd. Very small. And not much choice. Very un-inspiring and disappointing. Also as a family of 5 we were always given seating around the edge on a table for 4 with an extra chair on the end! The waiters were not attentive, often forgot to bring back your room card and made no conversation. Desserts were awful! All in all not a patch on Royal Caribbean or carnival!
Small. Not good having bunk bed right above parents double bed. Bed settee would work better. Lack of plugs. Great storage. When bunk bed is down you can't see the tv.
Busy city but very easy to walk around, shop eat etc.
Easy to explore by foot. Nice beach or shopping and people watching. Fantastic private yachts !
