We arrived in NYC from JFK air port with out any trouble and the gentleman that picked us up at the airport drove us thru time square and on to our hotel that was close to the port where we were to board the splendor ( several guests I spoke to aptly nicknamed the ship the "spinchter "). The process of getting on the ship was fairy easy if you like long lines and being photographed. We finally got to our cabin which was cramped but appeared to be clean. After waiting for our luggage for an hour we left the room and went up on deck to watch as the ship departed NYC along the Hudson river. While we were on deck we were paged and asked to go to the customer service desk. Up on our arrival at the customer service desk we were escorted to a dingy security office that was occupied by two seedy looking men in white uniforms. We were told that these men were the chief of security and the assistant chief of security. They began asking us all kinds of questions that were trivial and after a few minutes I became very angry and informed that I was tired of there interrogation tactics and what was the real reason we were there. I was then asked if I owned any fire arms and it I had any with me. I told them that it was non of there business if I owned any fire arms but yes I did and I didn't have any with me. I was then asked if I had a 357 and I replied yes, wondering how they knew that I owned that caliber of hand gun. We were then made to go down into the bowes of the ship where all the luggage was brought on board and asked to Identify our luggage. I opened my luggage and was asked to remove my shaving kit where upon I was asked to open it. As I unzipped the large zipper on my shaving kit the assistant chief of security (a man from some third world east Indian country) said "No the little zipper on the side" So I did so. By this time I was furious, because it was evident that these jerks had already searched my luggage and knew exactly what was in there that was objectionable to them. What all the fuss was all about was I had forgot that I had left five 357 shells in my shaving kit that had been thru at least 20 airports with out any problem I had no Idea that I had left them in there, it had been years. The shells were confiscated and we were escorted to our cabin where we were interrogated more and asked to write out a statement of what was in my luggage and why it was there. I was told that what I wrote out was not enough and and Mr assistant Chief of security then proceeded to dictate what he wanted the document to say. As this was going on there were 5 people searching the cabin for a gun. My wife was made to open her purse for these little foreign creeps, as one of them started to take her purse I told hime not to touch it and he backed off. After about 45 minutes with these jerks in our cabin they finally left. By this time I was livid and wanted to get off this boat and return to the soil of the USA where your rights are respected. The boat was late Getting into Boston the next day due to a storm at sea. By that time I had cooled down enough to listen to reason and was persuaded by my wife to finish the cruise. As we continued on the cruise I found the the food to be so so and the service was just average. The dining room was always crowded and noisy as it could be and had a waiting line every time I was there . The buffet was a joke with some of the worst food i have ever tasted on it. There was never clean tables available and the staff didn't seem to care. After the second day I started eating on shore so I wouldnt have to eat the swill served up on the ship. The prices that they charge for every thing on the boat are outrageous especially cocktails wine and soft drinks and bottled water, so if I wanted a coctail I would have one on shore so I would't have to pay carnival's hugely inflated prices. The shows were poor at best and there was better entertainment on the tv in our cabin. I couldn't wait to get off of this tub and my advice to anyone that will listen is never ever book a cruise with Carnival or any of its sister companies. Pay the extra money and go on a ship that will have decent food and a company that truly cares about there passengers. DO NOT SAIL WITH CARNIVAL OR THERE SISTER COMPANIES.....
