Embarkation was as smooth and seamless as you can expect with that many people coming through. There were 2 ships boarding and directions were very clear and straight forward. The embarkation lunch for conceraige was delicious as was the triple chocolate cake provided when the waiter found out about my birthday. Our cabin was ready on time although we did have to go down and get new keys-was not not an issue (or wait) at all. All areas of the ship were clean and well kept. We ate in the Grand Eparney each evening and the food never disappointed. We were able to have more than 1 appetizer, entree and dessert if requested. The dining room wait staff and sommelier were top notch and had great suggestions each evening. I think the dining room bar staff could have taken a tip or 2 from their counterparts to go above and beyond in their service. I enjoy a chocolate martini each evening with dinner but for some reason was not able to order one in the dining room-I had to get one from the martini bar and bring it into dinner myself. The first formal night I spilled the drink on my gown and shoes. As we were dining on deck 4 and were mere steps from the martini bar, I don't think it would have been burdensome for the bar staff to order and bring to our table each night and would have made an already enjoyable dining experience just that much better. The seas were quite rough the last 2 days leaving Alaska and entering Victoria but that is not any fault of the ship or her crew. The talented guys at the Martini Bar never disappointed and put on great shows. The Sky lounge was a nice place to relax in the sun on the roughest of sea days. I was very happy to see as many gowns and tuxedos on the Chic Nighrs as I did. Most people put a real effort into "dressing to impress" as Marrten (cruise director) put it one day. Although it rained lightly in all Alaskan ports. the cities/towns are beautiful and a pleasure to walk. Overall a wonderful vacation.

Port Reviews

Victoria

As this is a favourite city of ours, we took the opportunity to walk from the ship into town, have dinner and walk back. A lovely, welcoming city which I encourage all to visit.

Ketchikan

We decided to walk and shop. We stopped and had some crab and clam chowder at a little restaurant. We did take the "tour" through Dolly's house and walked along Creek Street.

Seattle

We drove down from Canada the day before.
