Prior to this cruise, we had been on Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. This was our first Disney cruise. It was also 4X more expensive than the same itinerary on the other lines. Given the extra expense, my expectations were 4X higher. Unfortunately, this cruise did not live up to it. We had a good time, we really did, and there were some members of the cast that made it special but overall, I could get this same service and in some cases, better service for a quarter of the price.

We boarded on Monday. The line to get on moved quickly and we were able to board fairly fast. Just like the other lines. We then had to go to Cabanas for lunch. Cabanas was super crowded and it was hard to find a seat. We found the other cruisers to be pushy and without manners. Our rooms were ready at 1:30 and we went to check out ours. We had 5518, which had two giant portholes. We loved our room as it was very spacious. Our room steward, Nilo, was great. He always had tips for us and gave our kids a private towel folding lesson. We did the drill and went to the sail away party. We also saw the Golden Mickey's, which was well done. Our dinner time was 8:15. This is one area I think Disney can improve upon. They know their clientele is kids yet the late dinner starts at 8:15. Even moving it back to 7:45 would be helpful. We managed but it was tough. We were seated at a table with another family who had children of the same age. Our server (who was also great) told us that the kids club folks would come and collect our children before dessert if we wanted. Unfortunately this wasn't done well and we missed the kids club person who was allegedly there picking up kids.

Tuesday we opted to stay on board rather than go to Nassau. We did activities around the boat and got some character pictures. The characters had lines just like in the parks. We also did the Aquaduck while others were in port (the line for the Aquaduck was as long as 45 minutes when everyone was on board). As others mention, the pools are TINY. We also did the Bippiti Boppiti Boutique. My kids loved it and it was nice BUT the appointments were for 45 minutes for my daughter and 30 minutes for my son. They whisked us and in and had us out in 15 minutes. For over $100, I feel like they should take their time! That night, we got to eat at Animators Palate. This is the only restaurant on board that is different than other cruise lines. The other restaurants were exactly what you could get elsewhere. The other compliant here was that the "show" on this night was a video version of Newsies. Apparently because they were doing up the stage for Beauty and the Beast debuting in November, we got shorted a stage show. I thought this was super lame. We paid FULL PRICE and were shorted a show. Either figure out how to do the show or charge less. Speaking of the shows, I also found it poor that they charged for popcorn.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom

Cabin 08A

This room had two large portholes. It was more of a square shape than the regular rectangle shape and make it feel like we had more room. It didn't have the two bathrooms, just one large bathroom with a zero entry shower. One day the toliet did overflow but our cabin steward was quick to get someone to fix it and he re-cleaned the room. Our kids LOVED the two large portholes and liked to sit in the windows and look out.
