New England/Canada itinerary is done often on HAL. So, although we had not cruised with them before, we decided to go with it. We will not use this cruise line again.
I don't know if they just figured that everyone would leave the ship all day at every port, but there were hardly any activities be it shore days or sea days. The theater was small, the selection of evening entertainment boring and the food was just ok. We booked too late to be in a dinner seating and "reservations" for dinner began at 7:30 PM. Some evenings we could not get seated until 8.
The final straw was the chaotic disembarkation. We chose to carry off our own luggage, but the stairs and halls leading to the gangway was so crowded, that when your elevator opened, you could not squeeze out. We went up to a lounge and waited an hour and a half until we could get off. Thank goodness we were staying in Montreal for a trip and not trying to get to a plane.
This ship does not have a regular veranda, you must go up to a mini suite to get a sliding door. The only difference (besides the cost) was a tub in the bathroom. Very ordinary cabin.
