We were celebrating our 50th Anniversary and had always heard that the Alaskan cruise was unforgettable so we decided to go on one. We had also heard that Princess Cruises were in the middle class of cruiselines so wanted to experience what "Princess" had to offer (We feel our expectations were not fully met but it was still a wonderful experience!) Our cabin steward Enrico was very attentive and did a wonderful job with our room. We chose the Early Dining Set time which we will avoid in the future. We found too many conflicts with activities and on some days a later dining time would have worked best with our excursions. When we had alternate dining during lunch, we met many very nice couples and enjoyed our lunch with them. We would have prefered meeting more cruisers at dinner, so if we cruise Princess again...we'll go that route. We read grumblings of long lines for Anytime Dining but only saw this on two occasions and it moved quickly. The staff are great at accommodating your choice of seating arrangements in Anytime Dining so it prevents your sitting at a large table alone when others assigned to your table are in specialty restaurants for the evening. The food wasn't as good as I had expected (7 out of 10 most lunches and evening meals in the main dining - some dipping down to a 5; and for breakfast, if you ordered anything other than an omelette, best I could rate them is a 3 for breakfast. (Tip- You can get a made to order omelette on the Lido deck as well as a mulititude of other choices. I really enjoyed their quiche.). The Lido Restaurant offered a huge variety of dishes to chose from for each meal and in between so after three disappointing attemps at dining room breakfasts, we frequented the Lido for breakfast. The entertainment was really good with the comedian (Phil Tag) and singer Zach Winningham at the top of the list (both great entertainers). The Voice of the Sea was fun with one of the passengers getting recognized as "best singer". The entertainment staff were all bubbly, starting the cruise off with dancing by the pool and leading many of the game themed activities on board. A fun and energetic group.

Cabin Review

Premium Oceanview
Cabin O5 P609
When this cabin was booked, we didn't know where it was in relationship to the layout above and below it. We later discovered it was dirrectly under the Explorers Lounge and Casino which caused us concern about the possibility of noise. Our concerns were laid to rest the first night. This was a great cabin! Quiet and in a terrific location to access the main three floors (dining rooms, shops, lounges and theatre). I'm a very light sleeper and all I heard was a very mild consistent motor noise that actually helped me to sleep. If you're not wanting to spring for a balcony, this is a great option. There are many, many great viewing spots around the ship and we met a lot of couples who had balconies sitting at one of these spots as well. (We never missed having a balcony but the thought of breakfast and coffee from one did sound nice - maybe another time).
