This was our first cruise and it was with a bit of trepidation that we booked it. We made sure it was not a school holiday period as we wanted some relax time. Booked a stateroom veranda and secured a starboard room on Deck 8. Great location with terrific view. ( a tip though..if you want a more economical cruise you could go inside cabin as we hardly spent time in the cabin and as much as I love a drink on the veranda I'd have been lucky to have spent all up 3 hours out on it...i mean why would you when you can go to so many common areas with better views etc.) Anyway, It's fun as a first time cruiser to get to know the ship. We were still discovering various nooks and crannies up till day of our return. Must say there is so much on offer that its impossible to catch it all while relaxing at the same time. We missed several shows etc as things overlapped with dinner / drinks / chilling on deck etc. Crew are very professional. On return I rang Celebrity to provide extremely positive feedback to our room service personal who knew our names and greeted us within 1 hour of boarding. The food..well I'm sure you've heard already how one could pack on kilos ... after day 2 we made sure we regulated ourselves after 'splurging'. We dinned at most restaurants but found the all day buffet very convenient. This encouraged us to go to the gym which we did every 2nd day. What a view... serious, you get on a treadmill or bike and just look seaward. They also had some great talks on nutrition, diet etc which are very informative (though there was a few product sells). There is also yoga which is fun whilst the ship bobs in the ocean. We mostly frequently the bar at the aft which is at the lawn area,,, what a great place to chill. You lay on the lawn, play bouche with other cruisers and have some cocktails. We made sure we departed the ship on every port / destination. The tendering process can be a bit laborious due to the amount of people but that's part of the fun too..and a great way to meet people as you venture out. All up a great time and we've booked another cruise on Solstice due to depart in a couple of months. Oh and I proposed to future wife on the top deck as we cruised the south pacific one balmy evening ... how could have she refused ;)

First time and loved it

Lovely island with some nice reef / coral systems. It was my partners first time snorkelling and the crew / leader made time to ensure everyone was safe and had a good time. The fish feeding was fun. My partner loved it.

  • Noumea
Must say Noumea was not as we had hpoed. We simply got off the trnsporter bus and walked around town. The city itself is quite run down and not the French influenced paradise we had hoped...but it was an experience and there were a few great coffee shops / bakeries. The shopping too was a dissapointment..we have hoped for some French influence at a cheaper price than what we could have bought in Aust. Again not the case.
Im told that the day trips to local beaches were of value...
