We have always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise, and had heard that Princess cruises were the best. I do not have anything personally to compare it to as this was our first cruise, but after speaking to multiple people before and after the cruise, our experience was unusual. I am wondering if it was specific to our ship, the Ruby Princess. Do NOT use this particular ship.

We traveled with our adult kids and family. Our son-in-law, who is in the military, stated that the food in the dining room was just a step above chow hall. Very poor quality, and terribly seasoned. We also tried the Salty Dog Gastro Pub, and it was horrible! There were seven of us, and no one liked their food at all! My mom said she would rather have McDonalds.

My elderly mother became ill while on the ship, and we tried to take her to Medical. We were told by our Statesman that it was on deck four. We took the elevator to deck four and once we arrived we were told we could not be on that floor because that was the cargo area. We were told to go to deck five. So we went to deck five, and the staff told us it was on deck four. My mom was so weak, and we never could find it. She just went back to her room and went to bed. We stumbled onto it by accident later on in the cruise. It IS on deck four, but you have to take a specific elevator to find it which no one bothered to tell us.
