We wanted to explore the Elbe River in the eastern part of Germany. We had heard it was unique and were not disappointed in that regard. Because of the history of the region and after the reunification of Germany we wanted to get an accurate accounting of how things are and were in that area. Our guides did not gloss over some difficult times which we much appreciated.
The staff as in every VIking cruise so far went well out of their way to cover every detail and make our journey fantastic. Our cruise director, Emily was amazing. Chef cooked delicious meals and the German night was outstanding.
Though an older vessel, it did not diminish in any way our experience. The dining room on the lower level was a bit dark with a handicapped assist lift blocking nearly half the stairs on one end.
We loved the shore excursion of Wittenberg and just prior to the 200th anniversary of Martin Luther's famed revolt.
Older ship so after the new long ships came as a little shock but clean and neat.
Nice to get right in there not a passing look from a coach.
