We are not into cruising but the concept of a river cruise where everyday you were in a different town with planned excursions appealed to me. I also did not have high expectations of the cruise itself thinking it would be like riding a Greyhound Bus because of all of Viking's advertising.
The cruise blew me away. It was way beyond my expectations. Five stars are not enough to describe it. From the ship, to the crew, to meals, to the daily excursions..........all were well beyond first class. The ship was high tech and wonderfully appointed. The crew was genuine and sincere in it's treatment of all "explorers". The meals were five star, gourmet. The included and optional excursions had wonderful guides that provided a local perspective to the areas toured.
I can not think of anyway to make the Viking Grand European Cruise any better. I would recommend Viking and the Grand European Cruise to all. It is worth every dollar it cost.
Even though upon first appearance the cabin seemed small the cabin turned out to be perfect with all its ammenities conveniently built in and functional.
