We had previously cruised the Danube with Viking and wanted to have another river cruise vacation. We were not disappointed! We booked a two day extension in Lucerne, Switzerland and set sail later in the week from Basel. Lucerne was beautiful and our Viking host was welcoming and gave us a great walking tour of Old Town. We met happy, friendly fellow travelers on the ship and enjoyed the attentive service of the ship's staff. The cabin was comfortable and the food was excellent with more than one dining option for breakfast and lunch. Even though this was a "small" ship, there were many places to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, the view, a conversation, or a book. The excursions in each port were well-planned and guided by knowledgeable local citizens. It was definitely a memorable experience! We've already booked a Viking Ocean Cruise to see the Panama Canal and expect that the Viking ocean cruise will be just as wonderful as the Viking river cruise.
